In considering this Saturday's President Election and who to vote for, my personal take would be someone who is good in finance, and has a generated a great turn over and growth of company revenues and assets in the financial company. Do i need to spell out who that person is? The only thing is that I think he may need to polish up his pronunciation(or go for a phonetic course), as he will need to represent the state, should he be elected as the glorifying head of state.
4 Mr Tans(not including myself) are respectively trained from first, PHD in Mathematics and Science, 2nd, A Medical Doctor, 3rd, a Financial Chief Executive with Substantial Experience, and 4th one, one who is trained in Economics.
Why would i choose the 3rd one? Well, my take: He wanted to create a President Personal Council(An independent maverick like me would think the same as he is), he can look after the reserve well and believe the sum of money in the reserve can better help the gray areas of the populations. He wanted to propose NS men to have same salary scale with the regulars (though put inside CPF), and he wish to donate half of his high salary to the poor and needy in the community. He stands out during the interview events(He dressed in traditonal attire, while the rest dressed in tie and suit). He dressed without the tie, while the others dressed in standard tie and suit. He also seems like a humble man, one who can blend in with the normal people in the society, than being a pro-partisan or pro-elite person. He is deemed to be independent and neutral, and doesn't sprout tones or elements of pro-partisan(Be it opposition or government).
In considering that, what coincidentally increase my support is that he was being invited by the Mensans for a financial planning talk during the June's Mensa Soapbox (Although i am not involved and not active at that point of time), the coincident has generated my increase for support for him.
For people who have been considering between him and the 4th Mr Tan. I would feel that since this is a P.E, and not a G.E, you could not bring in the tone and elements of opposition too much in the P.E. The elements was strongly and prominently produced by the 4th one when he make his talk in his rally. This is what i felt, a little sort of extremist. Therefore i would not consider the 4th Mr Tan.
In the first 2 others, not base on fact or basis, I got some funny comment that the 2nd Dr Tan superficially looks the most like a President, but however, since both the Dr was a member with the Pro-Govt, I personally will not consider any of the both of them. Otherwise, my 2nd choice(if can have that), would be the 2nd Dr Tan. The first Dr Tan, I know his intellect and experience, as he emphasis through his speech can have strong influence and consideration of the government, but personally, i think he is already rich enough, and was pro-partisan, therefore somehow, he has not got into my mind of electing for him. Many young people may also not vote for him, that is my guess.
So who will you vote for? Consider wisely. If you do somehow agree with my take, then vote the same Mr Tan with me. :)
